Introduction: Some people will have new experiences while working with Government. The Government use certain terminology which in most cases are not known to general employees. These terminologies may not matter to the employees but it matters to obtain good contracts with GSA Magazine. It is important to learn the terminology and acronyms that are commonly used to obtain successful contract. Therefore, understanding the Government and the terminology and acronyms, how does it work.

The best way to learn these terminologies are to read books on The Office of Small Business Utilization (OSBU). Such books and GSA Magazine have glossaries which contain more of common terms and training, that will help your company or employees to become successful while working with the Government.

There are few more acronyms used in daily basis like DUNS, eMod, SIN, and SDVOSB. These terms may seem vast to understand, but once they are broken down, the meaning become easier to understand. A DUNS number is obtained to be able to pursue a GSA Schedule contract with GSA Magazine to sell through GSA to customer agencies. DUNS number can be received by applying through DUN and Bradstreet. Without any of these one cannot purchase through the GSA. If you feel like to change anything, eMod system will allow you to do such changes by adding up new goods or services. To make the acquisition process easier with GSA Magazine, A Special Item Number (SIN) is used to put similar products into categories within schedules. The socioeconomic designation, like SDVOSB stands for service-disabled veteran owned small business, can give you many more opportunities through set-asides. There are few more instances would be women owned small business, 8a business development, and HUBZone. These certifications are approved by the Small Business Administration (SBA).
